Every year hundreds of comics bring comedy shows up to the internationally known Edinburgh Fringe. But the shows need to be tweaked, refined and perfected before August, so we have selected our favourite acts to preview at the Four Thieves in July. This is the behind-the-scenes, unique opportunity to see these Works in Progress that you won't get on TV. Come for a night or two, or the whole week. Our line-ups are subject to change, but here is who we have confirmed:

WEDNESDAY 5TH JULY - TOM STADE AND JOHN LYNN
Tom Stade: I SWEAR - After a hiatus from the touring scene, get ready for another epic blast of Tom Stade! Direct from the Edinburgh Festival, the Canadian tour-de-force is back with a brand-new show for 2017. Renowned for his carefree attitude and broad-minded vision, nothing is taboo to this enlightened and captivating comedy legend. Combining off-the-scale charm, razor-sharp wit and a no-holds-barred attitude; Tom pledges to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. John Lynn: Woke Up - John Lynn was on top of the world. Film offers had started coming in and he was finally finding his feet on the London property ladder. John felt invincible - but his body had other ideas. After collapsing in his local café, John ended up in an Intensive Care Unit fighting a virus in his brain that had caused his heart to falter. Eventually his body began to heal but the experience had taken its toll. John was afraid of everything and It takes a year of wild experiences to put him back on top.

MONDAY 10TH JULY - SHAPPI KHORSANDI AND ANDREW RYAN
Shappi Khorsandi: Mistress and Misfit - Shappi presents England's unsung heroine. For too many years she has been known as just ‘Nelson's mistress', a bit of a harlot. (You get ONE job in a brothel and bang goes your reputation.) Women's lib wasn't a 'thing' in Georgian times, Emma moved mountains to haul herself from 'scullery maid' to 'Lady Hamilton'. Yes, she occasionally danced on tables naked to get ahead in life, but who hasn't? As a fellow naked dancer on tables, Shappi is inspired by Emma, although she never wants hair big enough to house mice in.
Andrew Ryan: Did You Get Here Alright? - Irishman, and star of BBC1 NI’s The Blame Game, Andrew Ryan returns to the Fringe with another offering of his “well-paced, well written show that delivers plenty of laughs” **** THE MIRROR. Andrew is trying to conquer love, life, politics, insecurity, fear, living alone, all while he is an immigrant in a country where he was recently told to ‘go home’. Andrew Maxwell: Showtime - This will be Andrews 22nd Edinburgh Fringe show! He just loves Edinburgh, also he's been on the telebox a lot, he's Irish, adorable and blooming damn funny! What more do you want? Book now!
Eshaan Akbar: Not For Prophet - The debut fringe show from Piccadilly Comedian of the Year 2016. The ultimate colonial baby, the multi-lingual, privately-educated former banker, ex-Muslim and son of a Labourite and a Thatcherite is as confused as you are. A former "So You Think You're Funny" finalist, and as seen on BBC iPlayer, Akbar's debut show will take you on a delightful journey of what it's like to be him!
WEDNESDAY 12TH JULY - ROBIN INCE AND JOHN HASTINGS
Robin Ince's Rorschach Test - Presenter of BBC's Rose d'Or award-winning Infinite Monkey Cage gets excited about goats on canvas, matchstalk men and holes in pelvis bones in a show probably about art. Expect a frenetic hour where Robin tries to explain why he likes staring at art and the best overheard conversations are in art galleries. From Georgia O'Keeffe to Robert Rauschenberg via Stanley Spencer, Robin will attempt to translate the thoughts in his head into spoken words. 'The Zoolander of reasonably priced knitwear' (Brian Cox). And he has a new book out, I'm a Joke... and So Are You.
John Hastings: Audacity - BBC 3's John Hastings, the funniest white comedian from Canada, was briefly vegan and is currently in love. An Amused Moose Comedy Award-nominated comedian, he's here to confront his fear of confrontation and prove that love starts in the toilet (not that kind, you yucky idiots). THURSDAY 13TH JULY - IVO GRAHAM AND NIGEL NG
Ivo Graham: Educated Guess - After an eventful year off (got a new laptop, etc.), the boy's back in town, with resolutions galore but less courage in his convictions than ever. How much has Ivo learnt? And what good has it done him? Nigel Ng - Nigel Ng is a Malaysian comic who won Amused Moose Laugh Off in 2016. He is now based in the UK, and can be seen performing in comedy clubs all over the country. WEDNESDAY 19 TH JULY - HATE N LIVE
Hate n Live - This fast moving comedy show has the audience write down suggestions which are pulled at random out of a bucket, then the comedians have to say why they hate it...no matter what it is! Everyone likes seeing a comedian let rip on a deserving target, but the real fun comes from seeing a comedian squirming to find an angle to hate on something that’s impossible to hate, such as “puppies” or “the abolition of slavery”. This is Whose Line Is It Anyway? meets Room 101! Hate ‘n’ Live features regular Gladihaters Darius “Sir Hatealot” Davies and Leo “Kearse on Humanity” Kearse, with a revolving lineup of top comedians and improvisers. A different show every time!
WEDNESDAY 26TH JULY - DANE BAPTISTE AND PAUL CHOWDRHY
Paul Chowdhry - Come and see comedy powerhouse and star of Taskmaster, Live at The Apollo and host of Stand Up for the Week, Paul Chowdhry as he warms up for his brand new nationwide tour. ‘It’s a rare and joyous thing to see a stand up so vibrant and imperiously on top of his game’
